Elevator Modernization
The Case for "Proprietary"
Elevator Controls
The "Serviceable and Maintainable" Concept
|
Original Equipment Manufacturers
(OEM's), as you may know, build elevator control systems that can
only be accessed by using a special electronic tool. These tools
typically utilize patented or copyrighted and highly "proprietary"
software to communicate with the elevator control system's onboard
computers. When such copyrighted software and special equipment
is required to service an elevator control system the building owner
has only one option for all future elevator maintenance and repairs
- the original manufacturer.
If only one company can provide service for "proprietary"
equipment, how does the building owner control maintenance costs?

Drive
Systems for Every Application
PTC-SCR uses a
regenerative six-pulse SCR drive for geared applications
with speeds to 150 fpm (1-78 m/s), providing high reliability
with low maintenance.
PTC-AC is equipped with state-of-the-art VVVF AC drives
for speeds up to 150 fpm (.76 m/s). For speeds over 150
fpm (.76 in/s), flux vector drives are provided.
PTC-MG utilizes
a field-proven drive unit, manufactured by MCE, which employs
an analog pattern generator and integrates control of the
generator field, motor field, and brake.
Simplicity Is
the Key
All PTC
features and options are field programmable. Both initial
setup and reconfiguration are simple and easy. Programmable
features include: door functions, building configuration (landings,
front/rear doors and hospital emergency service), fire codes
(choose from over a dozen different codes), and spare inputs
and outputs (over 100 preprogrammed functions are provided
for maximum field flexibility). Some features may require
additional hardware.
Troubleshooting Is No Trouble
Car status messages simply troubleshooting. The system's "real
time" display mode provides "on screen" diagnostic aids. With
advanced internal diagnostics, PTC can frequently help identify
the source of many problems. System "flags" and memory are
also accessible, if needed, for advanced diagnostic work.
Secure Your Building by Floor
PTC options include MCE security. Car panel push buttons function
as a keypad for entry of a floor access code. The correct
access code must be entered before the controller will accept
a call to an access-restricted destination. Access can be
restricted both time of day and floor.
